Psalm 135

The first song after the songs of ascent.....I can hear this song being sung once finally in the temple or worship.

There appears to be some debate about who verses 1-2 is directed toward.....the priests who serve in the temple, or those servants of the Lord gathered there for worship.  Both study Bibles tend toward the first interpretation.

Praise the Lord!  He has chosen Israel to be His 'special treasure' (NKJV), or 'own possession' (RSB).

He is over all and cannot be moved--He does what He pleases.  None can thwart His will.   He, indeed rules over all....Heaven, earth and the deeps of the oceans.  All of nature is as He commands it.

Remember the mighty things He did in Egypt, before your very eyes, to display His glory and might.  Recall th defeated kings of cannon, Bashan and the Amorites.  Remember, the land that he gave you....a rich land that you did not cultivate.

The gods of the nations are but man's design.....they have no life or breath.  hey cannot move and act.  They cannot choose a people, but indeed the people choose it by creating it in their own minds, after their own hearts.  Eventually these gods become but a memory,  a thing of history.
Those who serve them become like them......

But our God is everlasting, His fame knows no end.  He will judge righteously, having compassion on His servants.

Praise the Living God, indeed!  Praise Him all the earth!
