Psalm 134

The closing psalm of the songs of ascent.

It seems that the people, as they draw near the temple after a long journey call out to those who minister in the temple day and night...."come!  Join us in worship in the temple!"

RSB notes suggest that V. 3 is the reply to them in the form of a blessing:
"The Lord who made heaven and earth bless you from Zion!"

The great God who created all things has stooped to chose a people and to dwell among them.

All through these songs, the Lord's attributes have been mentioned, and now, the journey is done, their minds have been set to worship Him, and finally, they have arrived!

What a great note on which to enter the temple in a right frame of mind for worship!

I am reminded of the call to 'prepare for worship'.   Before a few years ago, I'd never really heard that phrase, much less thought of it myself.  But preparing helps us be in the right frame of mind when we enter God's house.  Knowing Him puts us in a right frame of mind about ourselves, and we are eager to come before Him.
