His steadfast love endures forever!
This song appears to have been responsive.....the priest would sing the first part of a verse, then the congregation would respond with the refrain, "for His steadfast love endures forever," (ESV) or, "for His mercy endures forever," (NKJV)
Of note to me was that the content, though set up differently, is remarkably similar to the preceding psalm 135.
God alone is worthy of praise for He is over all! He alone is good, He is God of gods, Lord of lords. He alone is creative......He made the heavens and the earth with great wisdom and understanding. What other gods can do this? He set in motion every aspect of creation and oversees it still.
He chose Israel, a minority people with no might of their own, to be His treasured possession. With great might and power He rescued them from slavery in Egypt. He brought them out and destroyed the Egyptians in the space where he rescued Israel. He led them to Canaan and fought battles for them, overcoming great kings and overthrowing nations. He established them in the land promised.
Praise Him!
And today......I thought of how I (we) need to make this our practice....to remember all He has done, both in our history, and in our own lives. He has still done mighty things. And even if not for that, He chose me......and made me His own. He lets me know Him, and invites me to call Him Father. Yes, indeed, Praise Him!
